Identification of current shortfall of modern research facilities in the department for conducting research in deformation study of metallic materials, and formation of a research group (containing both faculty members and postgraduate research students) to share and enhance specialised knowledge in this field.
Procurement of laboratory equipment for hot rolling, high temperature tensile test and phase characterisation; textbooks and handbooks for the research group; material selection and simulation software packages, website development and other IT facilities dedicated to the research group.
Perform innovative and fundamental research by academic staff and postgraduate research students on effects of temperature during cold and hot deformation of materials, development of new metallic alloys to obtain better mechanical properties by producing ultra-fine grained (approximately nano-sized crystal) microstructure.
Organisation of a seminar to disseminate knowledge and skill to researchers, students and local manufacturing plants on rolling and deformation behaviour of metallic alloys, and suggestion of alternate production schedule to produce better-quality products.

The Group now boasts entities in sectors including Dragon Coil, Watch Parts, Sunglass, Warehouse services, shipping Services, logistics, infrastructure development and operation of Factory and Paper Mill operation.
The Group has kept its march forward at a greater pace even in the present era of globalization and information technology, which have turned the entire world into a global village and invited cross-border competition.
